Intro to Madrid
We had a great flight over. Both flights were on time. We had some minor ticketing issues and a rushed transfer in Amsterdam, but in the end all went to plan.
We arrived in Madrid at 9:30 am, then headed to our hotel. After partially checking in and freshening up, we headed into the heart of the city. We visited several markets, plazas, and restaurants. We tried all sorts of local cuisine: from tapas to coffee topped with cereal. Our tour guide, Julia, sent students on a fun scavenger hunt in the Puerta del Sol, then we headed back to the hotel to finish checking into rooms and shower. After a couple hours of unpacking, cleaning up, and resting we headed out for our 8pm dinner (an early dinner by Spain standards). Dinner was wonderful!
Our 30+ hour adventure, with a few naps here and there, was finally over and we went to bed!

Tomorrow, we'll sleep in, explore a different part of Madrid, and then head to Toledo for a day trip.
